Perhaps we are wanting to adopt a puppy or are worried about a dog we know who is unwell. We may be dreaming about dogs because they are on our minds.
It is no wonder they will appear in our dreams from time to time.

Dogs have been close human companions for millennia and one would expect-according to the continuity hypothesis of dreaming-that dogs are also quite common in dreams.
